Day 292 - DPA

Cheerful sunset color, and pleasing if not hopped out aroma. The taste is best described as nice, like that girl your mom sets you up with in middle school...

A good beer to have around just because it is easy to drink, but doesn't overwhelm and thus could appeal to a broad consumer pool. While you might drink your wild oats with more flavorful brews, you might marry this one when you want to settle down....

Day 228 - Samurai

So, the 3rd from this brewer, and a rather testosterony name. After an over the top palie, and a self-sacrificial frubee, this one comes right in the middle.

A very basic beer-yellow, and somewhat sweet taste with little hops distraction, this one is perfect for those that like to drink beer, but not really taste it.....

I know I've been slack on the bottle pics, but it has been a hard week on the family health side which makes it tough to write about beer. Still, staying up with this helps keeps things grounded, and helps ignore the temptation to consume larger quantities to really become grounded, as in can't get up off of... The hope to find that next great beer, reflects the hope that good health will return to all.

Day 133 - Wild Raspberry Ale

You know, one of these days I'll learn to keep away from fruited beers. Alas, tonight is not the night. I must admit, the first sip is the worst, and after that it is almost tolerable. I'm thinking that underneath the sweetness (which isn't overpowering luckily), there is porbably a good beer. Hum, maybe this should be classed as a dessert beer, as it might go well with a sweet dessert. I'll leave that to someone else to try....

So, was reading the label looking for the ABV, and what do they say the beer should be drunk with - fruit desserts. Maybe I can get a job writing beer labels...

Day 64 - Hercules Double IPA

I realized driving back from NC today that there will probably be a day when I am not able to write my blog, for any number of reasons. To be honest, I am a bit tired this evening, and if my younger brother Ned hadn't given me a 6 pack of singles today (knowing my pipeline was thin, thanks bro!), it would have been tough to go out and get some more after I got home.

And I might have missed this one......

There is no subtlety in this beer. The citrusy hops flavor is very strong, and at 10% ABV, yahoo. I also get the impression of a strong malt in the finish. Maybe I'm just wiped, but my gut reaction is that I don't think I could drink too many of these at one time, though it is good.

I think that this would be a better beer after a hard day's work (aka fishing...) and less tired. It definitely doesn't let you relax..... ;>)
