Day 261 - Lucky U

Ok, the pipeline is refilled for the next 8 days, and the dust is off the camera again. What better way to celebrate than with a new palie.

Golden orange color, citrus aroma, and then....darn, just ok, nothing special. I thought I was feeling lucky, but I guess just not enough.

So added a few Octoberfests, and another try at a German beer, plus a few others to mix it up, including a new canned beer. Should be an interesting week.

Day 226 - Avalanche

My second one from this brewer, and given the first was a vanilla porter, I was willing to put that behind me and give them another shot. Alas, that was all it took to acertain that one really shouldn't drink any more of this beer...

Sadly, the color was a decent amber color, true to name, but the beer just falls flat from there. It has a tinny taste, perhaps inparted from the can, but more likely just a poor mix of malt and hops.

So the can says it was first brewed in Breckenridge in 1988. Either moving the brewery to Denver was a bad idea, or this is a can from the original batch. Either way, this is one of the saddest beers I have had, even when counting the fruited ones. There's always tomorrow....

Day 156 - Remarkable Vanilla Porter

Another beer from those provided by son Cullen, who gets credit for finding ones I haven't had yet. Thus endeth the pleasantries.

Who would have believed that 2 different breweries would have followed this path. It's like watching one of those Friday the 13th movies, when everyone surely can tell the person on the screen is just about to get axed... Admittedly, the porter genre is not my fav, and the last vanilla flavored beer left me gagging. At least the strong roasted malt prevents the vanilla taste for really digging into the taste buds, which is all the good I can say about this one.

You know, putting the words "remarkable" and "partakable" on the label is just wrong, as it lulls the beer drinker into a false sense that this might actually be good. Seriously, if by chance any brewers actually read this one day, DON'T PUT VANILLA IN YOUR BEER!
