Day 271 - Never Summer Ale

Day 5 of the seasonals, and ok, this one might be a stretch, but it has two things going for it. It has the word "summer" in the name, and summer is a season, and it is brewed by the Boulder Beer Co, which is fast becoming one of, if not the tops of, my favorite brewers list.

Strong red/orange color, and like the copper ale, a solid malt foundation supports a fine hops flavor. It has been too long since I had the copper ale, but they could be twins. I might be inclined to revist the two for a side-by-side. Yeah, I could suffer that...

Specs:

Full Name: Never Summer Ale
Brewed By: Boulder Beer Company
From: Boulder CO
ABV: 5.94%

Not that this beer needs anything in the background to improve it, but discerning viewers might notice the blonde in the skimpy nurse's costume in the background. Sigh, this is what my daughter Liz is wearing for Halloween. At least it makes a good backdrop...

The Boulder Beer Co is making a strong push to make me want to move there. Perhaps once the kids are out of college and my business actually generates income, I just will. Until then, it is at least easy to live vibeeriously...

Cheers!

Day 165 - Singletrack Copper Ale

So, another brewer blast from the past tonight, and another compelling argument for pulling roots and moving to CO.

Rust-brown light sparkled in the shot glass, earthy malt undertones leading to a soft, yet poignant, hops finish, and yet, still light enough that a thought of a 2nd, or 3rd, or 4th, doesn't diminish the desire. This is a beer you can drink anyplace, any time, though outdoors by a river after a day of fishing would be perfect, or sitting in front of a fireplace on a cold winters night also comes to mind.

Brewed By: Boulder Beer Company
From: Boulder CO
ABV: 4.97%

Ok, the average ABV probably aids in the easy drinkability of this one, and it comes in 2nd compared to it's pale brother Hazed and Infused, but a darn tasty beer for sure, especially for the days you want a little malt in your life. I'm thinking this is going to be the best out of this 6-pack of recent additions, but will keep an open mind, and throat.....

Day 113 - Sweaty Betty

In in the mood for a bit of whimsy, this one is definitely all about the name/label, though a wheatnik who likes their beer on the lighter side might really like this one.

An extremely pale yellow, you get the distinct wheat brew flavor but it doesn't overpower. Very similar to say a Blue Moon. No funky spice or fruit noticable, so in the end, while not my favorite genre, it is drinkable.

Full Name: Sweaty Betty Blonde

From: Boulder CO
ABV: 5.9%

It's Sunday, and I actually don't have much more to say about this one, so until tomorrow.....

Day 47 - Hazed & Infused

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.!!!

The color of tarnished bronze in the sun
Close your eyes, and a picture of ripe barley swaying in the breeze flashes in you mind
Taste buds, crying out for more of that hops-heavenness, with a subtle malt undertone
hand just can't help tipping the bottle again and again
Total and complete refreshment.........

Oh baby!

Specs:

Full name: Hazed & Confused dry hopped ale
Brewed by: Boulder Beer Company
From: Boulder, CO
ABV: 4.85%

Wow, I really like this one, and a trip to their website shows a whole slew of other options. I'm having to breath through a paper bag to prevent hyperventilation, and trying to suppress thoughts of just selling everything tomorrow and moving to Boulder..... Yes, yes, it isn't setting records for ABV (but they have a 10% IPA!!!!!!!), and the subtle sweetness might turn off some purists, but this is just a darn good drinkable beer, and pushes out the other ale from my fav list.

So: Lion, Singha, Hazed
