Day 301 - Wassail

Hum, ok, seriously, I really have to pay attention, or start finding some memory-enhancing pharmas....

I haven't had much luck with this brewer either, and after 4 attempts, have hopefully had my last. the color of imperial topaz, and the taste like water strained through mulched leaves and grass clippings. sigh, two ew's in a row, and we're not talking sheep here...

Specs:

Full Name: Wassail (clever play on name for seasonal)
Brewed By: Full Sail Brewing
From: Ft Hood WA
ABV: 7%

So, a quiet saturday night of drinking less than high quality beer. Ah well, if they all were great, I might be more inclined to increase consumption, and I'm already threatening the last notch on my belt buckle after 300 days of this.

Thanksgiving resolution, exercise more, so I can keep drinking.....;>)

cheers!

Day 243 - Full Sail IPA

The 3rd by this brewer, and their attempt at an IPA. Sadly, it tastes more like any one of those "premium" European green-bottle export beers. That is, on the bitter side, without the citrusy yumminess I want. The first clue was the color, which was a weak pumpkin orange.

Specs:

Full Name: Full Sail IPA
Brewed By: Full Sail Brewing Co
From: Hood River OR
ABV: 6%

So, I'm relavating that it actually might just be a specific variety of hops or blend of hops that make a great palie. I may have to exercise a few under-utilized brain cells, which shouldn't be hard to find, and try and see if my favs use the same hops.

Stay tuned...

Day 176 - Session

So, a US beer claiming "premium" status, yet coming in a squat, brown bottle. So much for sterio-types...

More the color of Coke, this one is actually very smooth, with a hint of roasted malt adding a touch of sweetness, which makes it rather drinkable, on a night I did not feel like anything too complex or crazy.

Specs:

Full Name: Session Black
Brewed by: Full Sail Brewing
From: Hood River OR
ABV: 5.4%

So, a tad more ABV than the typical lager, and more taste. Ignoring it is in a 11 oz bottle (?!!), that makes this a good choice for a hot summer day, which btw, it was. After a morning spent doing yardwork and dogging it in the heat, I was home alone for the afternoon, and I capitalized on the fact by working to improve my Call of Duty skills. Alas, I only managed to get them up to "suck" from the previous "totally suck". Elizabeth destroys me, which is sad, though she has been getting practice while recuperating from having her wisdom teeth pulled the other day. Funny though, the pain-killers they put her on made her swear like a drunken sailor, which is only slightly less colorful than her older brother and grandparents... ;>)

Day 89 - Full Sail

Well, so much for the streak of exceeding expectations...

The best thing about this beer was that I shared it with an old friend/fraternity brother, Chris Anderson, whose nickname was Beerman, who stopped by to talk beer.

Specs:

Full Name: Full Sail Pale Ale
Brewed By: Full Sail Brewing
From: Hood River, OR
ABV: 5.4%

Perhaps the problem was starting off with a Hazed and Infused, and this one paled in comparision ( ;>) ), but we both agreed that it was kind of bland. I probably would pick it over a mass produced, but otherwise, I'd sail right on past this one....
