Day 183 - 1554

Another from the Ross donation collection, and interesting.

More reddish brown than black, this one hints at roasted malt, but the taste disappears rapidly, and is gone. No aftertaste to speak of, leaves me torn between wishing for more, and thinking that it would be good when you don't want your beer to be the main focal point of what you are doing.

Specs:

Full Name: 1554 Enlightened Black Ale
Brewed By: New Belgium Brewing
From: Fort Collins CO
ABV: 5.6%

Pipeline is getting thin, but luckily, Durham has a good refilling hole nearby, so should be able to get there in the next day or so. In the end, this is a good drinking beer, and probably acceptable to more mainstream swillers. I'd drink it again with no qualms, but if there was a tasty palie available, it would probably be saved until that option was used up.
