Tonight, we have a new brewer, from a new country, found at a specialty wine and beer store in Bethesda (whilst on previously mentioned shopping excursion with Liz this past saturday).
A brown, coppery color, very light on the nose and a dry malt flavor, which is different. I haven't decided if I like it or not, as what comes to mind is an earthiness akin to licking freshly shorn sheep's wool perhaps. Hum, not sure where that came from, but we'll run with it...
Specs:
Full name: Monteith's Original Ale
Brewed By: Monteith's Brewing Company
From: Aukland New Zealand
ABV: 4.0%
At least it only has the word "smooth" on the label, and not premium. Actually, it is rather easy to drink, and has no real aftertaste per se. Of course, some more serious drinkers might point out that at 4% and 11.2 oz, this is a lightweight beer, but for those that want exotic without the alcohol or heavy flavor, this is a good choice.
